The New York Festival of International Literature opens Apr 25 in NYC
More than 130 writers will be featured at this year's World Voices week in NYC sponsored by PEN American. Noted writers include Chinua Achebe, Philip Gourevitch, Jessica Hagedorn, Yusef Komunyakaa, Jhumpa Lahiri, Paulo Lins, among others. New African Writing, sponsored by Global Information Network and Africa World Press will be held Apr 27, 2-4 p.m. at NYU's Africa House. Featured writers are Helon Habila, Rashida Ismaili, Ali Jimale Ahmed, Tuzyline Jita Allan and Okey Ndibe.

Nigerian author/activist OGAGA IFOWODO to discuss his new book Madiba.
Global Information Network takes great pleasure in presenting renowned author Ogaga Ifowodo of Nigeria in a discussion of his new book Madiba.
Imprisoned during the regime of Gen. Sani Abacha for his outspoken criticism of that government, Mr. Ifowodo was the subject of a free expression campaign by PEN, the international writers' organization, and he received their prestigious Freedom-to-Write award in 1988.
